8 Lives Left for Hillsborough Feral Cats

TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA)- The Hillsborough county commission has voted 6 to 1, in favor of the T-N-R program, in an effort to deal with the feral cat problem in the county.

The T-N-R.. or trap, neuter, release program was the heart of this issue. Cat lovers say it's humane and will reduce the number of mercy killings of cats. Hillsborough Animal Services Director Ian Hallett is proposed the program in hopes of cutting down on the number of cats that are put down each year.

Those against the program say it doesn't completely solve the problem. The cats are still wandering wild in neighborhoods and can spread disease.
