Armed Suspect Robs Elderly Woman at Convenience Store

(Tampa, Fla.) - Tampa Police officers are working to identify and arrest a man who robbed a disabled elderly woman. Barbara Felder was exiting the Marathon convenience store at at 2611 North 40th Street at about 10am on Wedensday, when the suspect approached her and offered to carry her three grocery bags.

The 75-year-old woman refused and continued walking away from him. When the persistent suspect tried to snatch the grocery bags out of the victim's hands, she fought him off with her cane. He confronted her two additional times to ask if he could carry her bags. During the third confrontation, the suspect displayed a knife and grabbed the grocery bags out of the victim's hands. He took the victim's wallet out of one of the bags and fled the scene on a black bike.

Felder is currently living in a motel, and the suspect stole the only money she had to pay for housing and food. Officers are also working to find social service assistance for the victim.
