Friend of wrong-way driver; "I have no clue"

Friend of wrong-way driver;

TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Scott Enfinger still can't come to grips with what happened last Sunday morning.  And it all started at his house.

For the first time since last Sunday's firey wrong-way crash on I-275, Enfinger is speaking out about his friend and the driver, Daniel Morris.

Morris was staying with Enfinger in Tampa.  There was a backyard cookout.  Enfinger says Morris had a couple of drinks, but insists he didn't seem drunk.  Then, all of a sudden, Morris walked inside the house, then walked out the front door and took off in Enfinger's SUV.

A while later, Morris was caught on highway surveillance cameras racing southbound in the northbound lanes of I-275 near Busch Boulevard.  He eventually crashed into a car with four USF students inside.  All of those involved in the crash were killed.

Enfinger discounts the notion that Morris was either drunk or distraught and intentionally set out to kill himself, no matter who he hurt.  And Enfinger says he's afraid for his family's safety, since he says he's been getting threats.

"I've thought over this a million times, and nobody has beat themself up or pressured themself more than this, to try to figure this out--to put some kind of answers to this, not just for us but especially for the four other people involved and their families.  But I have no clue."
