HCSO: Two U.S. Marshals shot while serving warrant

SEBRING, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Highlands County Sheriff’s officials said two U.S. Marshals were shot this morning while serving a warrant.

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Nell Hays said one was eventually released from the hospital, the other will undergo surgery.

HCSO said the two marshals are part of a task force made up of multiple law enforcement agencies to identify a high-level, narcotics, drug trafficking ring and that these suspects, according to HCSO, have been supplying a large portion of the drugs to the central Florida area.

This morning, deputies said warrant teams attempting to serve the arrest warrants were confronted by armed suspects at one of the target locations in Sebring.

Task force members have arrested the six suspects in this case, according to the HCSO.
