Pinellas man convicted in federal terrorism case

TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A federal jury in Tampa has convicted Sami Osmakac of planning a terrorist attack.

The jury deliberated for more than six hours.  Osmakac faces life in prison.

Prosecutors say the 27-year-old bought explosives from an arms dealer who turned out to be an undercover FBI agent.  They say Osmakac wanted to bomb the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, a Tampa bar and a sheriff's office building plus some local bridges.

Defense attorneys had argued that Osmakac was entrapped by federal agents, who exploited his mental illness.
