Orlando, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The Florida Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control have confirmed a second case of MERS in the U.S. This latest case is in Orlando.
This new case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome involves a health care provider who lives and works in Saudi Arabia. The Patient is said to be in isolation at an Orlando hospital.
The CDC's Tom Frieden says the patient had flown from Saudi Arabia to London, Boston, Atlanta and then to Orlando. Frieden says the person started feeling ill on the flight from Saudi Arabia. Other passengers on those flights have been notified.
The risk to the general public from MERS is said to be low. The CDC says MERS is not easy to spread.
This latest case of MERS is not related to the first U.S. case, which was in Indiana.
