Tampa Electric sends crews out of state to assist with severe weather outages
TAMPA, Fla. -Tampa Electric is sending 100 people to Little Rock, Ark., to help Energy Arkansas restore power after a severe winter storm expected to hit Thursday and Friday.
The group includes 30 contractors, 40 linemen and 30 support personnel. They will leave at Thursday for the two-day drive and are prepared to stay for two weeks.
Tampa Electric is a member of the Southeastern Electric Exchange, or SEE, which is a network of utilities that pledges mutual assistance in case of storm or other emergency. Crews supporting the restoration efforts of other utilities are paid by the host utility.
